Directions:

Writing Prompts (Six Rivers and Lycee Regnault Students):
1. Describe yourself and the place where you live. What is your family like? Where do you go to school? What are your hobbies and interests?
2. What are your future goals and aspirations? Identify some places you would like to travel and why you would like to go there. What are some things you like to do or accomplish in your life?
Step by Step Instructions:
1. Read the prompts and complete your draft. Questions 1 and 2 should be about a paragraph each.
2. When you are finished, share your introduction with your teacher and/or other students for feedback and suggestions.
3. With feedback in mind, write a final revised draft of your introduction. Do your best!
4. Show the final draft to your teacher for any last suggestions and approval.
6. In the comments section, post your introduction. (you can cut and past from Microsoft Word or other similar program)
Your introductions should be about 100-150 words in length. Please use complete sentences and conventional grammar and spelling.
Once all students (Lycee Regnault and Six Rivers) have posted, you will two students and respond to their introductions. If a student already has two responses, please find another student. This way, everyone will part of the dialogue! Please make sure your comments are appropriate. Have fun meeting each other and making new friends!
Hello fellow students! My name is Steven Papale. I live in Arcata, California with my mom, Trish, and my dad, Aaron. Arcata is a beautiful town with many tall Redwood trees and gorgeous beaches. My family is very close and we often all go out to eat at our favorite Italian restaurant, Abruzzi’s. We usually all get noodles of some kind (for example spaghetti). I go to school at Six Rivers Charter High School, which happens to be on the same campus as two other schools (Pacific Coast and Arcata High School). It’s a great, small school where almost everybody seems to get along just fine. I also have many hobbies; such as skateboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing and swimming in my local pool. One of my other passions is working at an indoor Skatepark known as Rampart that has many crazy ramps along with many crazy people to ride them.
ReplyDeleteI’m not completely sure where I’m going after high school, but I do know that I want to get my masters degree in psychology because I have a natural interest in the subject. I’m not too interested in traveling, however I would really enjoy going to Belgium, because of the interesting attractions (such as the world’s deepest swimming pool) or Hawaii because of the sun and the beaches. My main goal I want to accomplish in my life is to get my masters degree in psychology so I can live comfortably and do something that I enjoy.
My name is Devon Walker, I’m fifteen years old, and I’m currently in tenth grade at Six Rivers Charter High School. My favorite subject is probably math, but I also really like science, especially if it is about space and even more if it is about black holes. I have three favorite animals: tigers, snakes, and slow lorises. In my free time I like to play guitar, listen to music, read, watch cat videos on the internet, and debate. I also have an older sister (who is in college studying business), a cat, and a dog.

After that, I want to go to graduate school at the university that my dad went to, but I’m not sure what I want to study because I have a lot of different interests. I also know that at some point, I want to travel to Greece because I've always thought that it’s really pretty there, and I want to go to England and Puerto Rico because that’s where my parents are from.
Hello, my name is Ralph Stehman . I come from McKinleyville California. Even though it’s a small city you can see it on the globe. It is near the Oregon border and is very, very cold. We live close to the ocean and so we get a lot of fog. Believe it or not I like it here. I enjoy riding ATV’s(All Terrain Vehicles) and horses are fun to. I love the outdoors and being outdoors with friends. I am 15 years old and 6 foot 4 inches, 210 pounds, and have blond hair. I love playing sports, such as football, baseball, basketball, and wrestling.
ReplyDeleteI go to school at Six Rivers Charter High School. I like Six Rivers because I don’t do well in bigger schools. Six Rivers was small and I could take classes that I liked, such as Mr. Hertz’s Landscaping class and metal shop. Now I love animals a lot, so I want to be a veterinarian because I want to help animals with problems they have. My family has a strong military background so I want to join the marines, just like my older brother. If I could travel anywhere I would go to the bahamas, which is where my parents went on there honeymoon. I would go there because they're always telling me how amazing it was when they went.
Greetings, my name is Alison Silver and I am a sophomore at Six Rivers Charter High School in Arcata California. I have only lived in California for about two years. Before that I lived in Rhode Island which is the smallest state in the U.S. Most people seem to forget that it is even state, especially here in California which is quite large. Many people didn’t even know where I was talking about. I now live in Trinidad California which is about a 15 drive from the school. It is a very pretty town, right near the ocean. It is also very small though. Nothing goes on their without every citizen hearing about it. Most of my family lives around here. My father still lives in Rhode Island but I try and talk to him every day and get to visit twice a year. My mother is usually very nice, she is a kindergarten teacher. My step-father Steen is a scientist. What is your family like? In my free time I like to write and read. I have been trying to write a book. I also do photography sometimes. Every Saturday I volunteer at the stable where I keep my horse that has a program to help mentally and physically handicapped people ride. My horse is a bit strange and loves to smell everything but he is a good boy. His name is Phelim. I also have a cat named Theo, a rabbit names Jasper and an old dog named Max. Do you have any pets?
ReplyDeleteIn my future I would like to be a writer but I don’t have any other realistic plans. I guess I will just have to figure it out later, I have time. It’s hard to plan what you want to do for your whole life. I would love to travel, most of all to Ireland or Iceland. I have always wanted to go there to take photos. I think that’s all I have to say. I am looking forward to learning more about you!
Hello, my name is Mooni Hurwitz, I am fifteen years old and a Sophomore at Six Rivers Charter High. I am profoundly deaf with a cochlear implant, which is a small complex electronic device that helps provide sound for severely hard of hearing or profoundly deaf people. I was born in the small town of Sebastopol, CA, which is an hour north of San Francisco. When I was four years old I moved from my small hometown to the rural northern parts of CA. For seven years I went to a public school with an average of nine kids total K-8th grade. Then when I was eleven I moved to Arcata, CA. It is a beautiful tourist attraction for all around the world because of the Redwood trees and the Pacific Ocean, but mostly year round it is foggy or rainy and not so pleasant weather which is OK because my favorite weather is rain! I am the middle child of three girls, my older sister is eighteen and my little sister is two and a half, my mom is remarried and I live half time with my mom and stepdad and then half time with my biological dad. My hobbies are gymnastics and photography. I love watching romantic comedies. I love to cook on my own time. Right now I am in the process of writing a novel of my life.
ReplyDeleteMy future goals are to graduate from Six Rivers in two and a half years, then move to the Bay Area and attend a four year college. After getting my bachelors in a particular field of design, I want to pursue my intended goals of being an architect, magazine editor or interior designer. I want to find a job in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, or NYC. In college I intend to go on an exchange program in Europe, ideally to Russia and France because of my heritage. I am interested in going all over the globe, experiencing new cultures and food. I love authentic food! I’m a small town girl with big dreams and I’m determined to make mine reality.
Hi my name is Michelle Leann Swanlund. I am a sophomore at Six Rivers Charter High School. I am 15 years old. I live in a small town by the name of Eureka, CA and it’s really cold. My family is outgoing, we love being outside. My hobbies are riding horses and driving quads. My interests are being around my animals and hanging out with friends and family. My future goals are to become a vet and go to college. I would love to travel to Germany because I am in my second year of German class at my school. In general I would love to travel to Europe, to see the Eiffel tower in Paris, France, and check out some cool museums. I mostly stay at school or I ride my horse around my house or go to the horses riding stables. I want a 4.0 grades average by the end of high school.

I love my family; that goes for my mom, dad, sister, and 3 doggies. I am a sophomore, and I go to school at Six Rivers Charter High School, here in Arcata. Some of my interests are American football and track & field, as well as weight-lifting and walking through unexplored parts of town. ReplyDeleteMy future goal is to become a high school principal as well as a weight-lifting coach for a high school football team as a secondary job. I hope to go to college. I have a few possible places in my mind: Florida State University (they’re my favorite college football team), the University of Oregon, or maybe somewhere in the state of Louisiana. New Orleans is a pretty awesome city, there’s so much culture. But overall, I would LOVE to pursue a football career. Maybe if I get lucky, or give an impression, I could play at a college I could go to. Or maybe become a coach for a college or professional team. I also would like to go to Seattle, a city in the state of Washington. Anyways, I’m responsible for my destiny, so I will go wherever life takes me!

Hi my name is Max Toste and I am a normal guy that likes to play games and hangout with my friends and family. I live in Eureka, California where there is a lot of trees with zero wind at all. I collect guns and valuable antiquities. My family are very loving people, we like to hunt, tell jokes, and have fun with each other. I go to 6 Rivers Charter High School in Arcata, California, because it is small, easy to learn a subject that I like learn. My hobbies are 4-H, Cowboy Action Shooting, and playing videogames. 4-H is where you raise a farm animal like pigs, cows, sheep, goats, and a ton of other animals, once it is fair time you take your animal to show it and then you sell it to make money for college. Cowboy Action Shooting is where you have to wear the cloths of what the cowboy’s wore during the 1800’s, and even shoot the guns they had during that time.
I want to be a farmer or a police officer when I grow up. A police office officer stops criminals from do bad things to our city and state, but it is a dangerous job because you might get shot by a criminal. A farmer raises animals then sells them for the meat to make some money.
Hello, I’m Justin. I’m a 15-year-old male currently living in Arcata, California. Arcata is a small city close to the ocean with the beach about a 20 minute drive from my house. I live with my my mom, dad and our dog, Leela. I also have a sister who goes to a College seven hours away, so she doesn’t live with us. I go to school at Six Rivers Charter High School. My hobbies outside of school are hanging out with friends and playing video games. I also have a passion for electronic music. I do minor electronic music production and hope to become an experienced electronic music DJ (disc-jockey) when I grow up. I’m curious if you have any kinds of hobbies or something you hope to when you are older?

I live in a small town called Eureka, CA. My family is loud, funny, outgoing, active, and wonderful. My hobbies and interests are playing sports. I play softball for a traveling team, and we travel all year long we travel all around California.

My goal is to go and play for the USA softball team and play with the best of the best. I would also like the travel to El Salvador because my dad’s parents lives there and that’s where he is from. I would also like to visit France because I hear it is a beautiful place. I would like to go to a university, finish school, and get a job as a physical therapist or be a sports trainer for the NFL (national football league), NBA (national basketball league), or the MLB (major league baseball).

I am currently taking world history, landscaping, biology, algebra 1, study skills, German 2, and English 2 as my classes. I have two brothers, two sisters, my dad and step mom, and my step dad and mom. I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. when at home I mostly play Xbox. A lot of times i get active and go have fun. Every weekend i always go do fun stuff with friends like ride dirt bikes, go off roading, go golfing, camping, frisbee golf, and take my dogs to the river.
I am 15 and a half years old and I live in Arcata California. Being the average teen where I live, I like to get out of my house and go places. My family owns property at a lake nearby in California. It's a 3 and a half hour drive from where we live. I love going there because its a beautiful place and lots of fun.

Hello my name is Alexander Joseph Berry, but I go by Alex. I go to school at Six Rivers Charter High School in Arcata, Humboldt County, California. I chose Six Rivers, because it was a small school and it looked like it had a good curriculum. I enjoy playing video games. I enjoy watching movies preferably Action, Sci-Fi, Adventure, and Comedy movies. I also like listening to music, preferably Rock and Roll and a little bit of Country. I’d like to travel to San Francisco to to see the baseball (Giants) and football (49ers) teams play because my family is a fan of both teams. I want to be a Algebra teacher because I really enjoy Algebra. Math at SRCHS isn’t just about solving equations, but explaining what you did.

I live with my Mom, my Stepdad, and my younger twin half-sisters; my Dad lives in Arcata and my older half-brothers live in Eureka, California and Nebraska. My hobbies include playing footbag (AKA Hacky Sack), snowboarding, and playing video games. My interests are reading, listening to music, and watching anime and movies.
ReplyDeleteAfter high school, I’m not sure what I want to do; for a while I wanted to go to culinary school, now I’ve been invited to work for Highway Products and Pavati Marine if I go to school to learn how to weld, and all the options in between are available to me. This summer, I plan to travel to Germany with Arcata High’s German Club, and maybe next year I will spend a semester there as an exchange student. I don’t have any plans for later in life, I suppose you could say I’m just living in the now.

My family is very crazy (when we are all together) and dysfunctional; but we all love each other, and have times that can be very enjoyable. I have three siblings and we all live with our mom. HI my name is Kyle Shipman. I am a 10th grader at Six Rivers Charter High school. I really enjoy the students here, and the schoolwork is pretty laid back. Although I go to High school in Arcata, I live In Trinidad about 15 miles north. My mom works at Humboldt State University, which is a few blocks away from the high school, so she gives me a ride to school everyday. I don't play any community sports, but I am really into skateboarding. I have been skateboarding for about 4 years now, and i'm still loving the sport. I usually skate at the Arcata Skate Park after school, since it is only a few blocks away from the high school. A lot of the kids at Arcata High School are my friends that I skate with.

I'm american so i like ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, and other meats. I am currently working on getting my drivers license, so i'm in a driver e.d class. Do you already drive?
